In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Welcome Industries, JCPenney is issuing a recall on the Bright Future Arched Spindle crib. This crib was sold in catalog only dating back to 1996 under. This crib was sold in the color oak only.
During recent testing of this crib, it was discovered that each headboard has a horizontal ledge that, under federal standards, could be used as a "toehold" that could aid a child in climbing out of the crib. JCPenney is aware of no injuries from this crib and there have been no customer complaints made regarding this crib.
Customers are being asked to stop using the crib immediately and return it to the nearest JCPenney catalog desk. Customers are to bring a completed "Product Recall Customer Return Form" with them when returning the crib. These cribs are to be destroyed at store level. They are not to be resold, given away or returned to the supplier.
