Supply Chain
Our U.S. logistics operation encompasses facilities aligned in hub-and-spoke networks to support distribution of merchandise to stores and the fulfillment of internet and catalog orders to individual customers. Goods are transported through a global network of contract carriers that provide air, ocean, rail, truck and intermodal services.
In 2008, our logistics organization adopted a Logistics Long-Range Plan to support its mission to optimally flow merchandise from our suppliers to serve our customers’ needs. One of the five key strategies of the Logistics Long-Range Plan is to create a “socially responsible supply chain network” by:
- Developing environmentally sound packaging.
- Utilizing alternative energy sources and conservation to reduce cost and our carbon footprint.
- Continued expansion of recycling and reuse projects to reduce waste.
