JCPenney is committed to providing tailored and innovative solutions that respond to the unique needs of our Associates. To meet these needs, we established several initiatives to assure a diverse and inclusive organization.

Inclusion & Diversity Awareness

JCPenney hosts Inclusion and Diversity training workshops that aid all Associates, including our leaders, in understanding that our customers are looking for a trusted partner that will give them inspiration. We are committed to delivering products to diverse groups, while treating all customers with respect and fairness. We believe making this connection will make us the “Preferred Shopping Choice for Middle America.”

Offered at the Home Office, the Inclusion & Diversity Heritage Speaker Series encourages guest speakers and Associates to address inclusion and diversity topics. For topics like “Disability Employment,” our town hall forums provide an opportunity for open dialogue for all Associates.

For Store and field-based Associates, the Company produces webcasts to address the varying needs of our customers. These webcasts address topics like working with persons with disabilities, understanding sexual and gender orientation and recognizing generational differences. Associates can access webcasts via registers in all JCPenney stores.

Recognizing Associates

JCPenney celebrates the diversity of its workforce through internal and external programs. Through our partnership with national media like People en Español and Essence magazines, JCPenney is creating opportunities to recognize diverse cultures.  JCPenney is committed to recognizing Associates’ exceptional performance and innovative ideas.

Associate Resource Teams (ARTs)

ARTs are voluntary Associate groups that meet regularly to discuss common business related topics. They provide a valuable opportunity for greater contributions to our ongoing business success by offering a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and backgrounds. JCPenney’s ARTs include:
