jcpenney Reaches $100 Million in Afterschool Support

During the school year, one out of every four students is unsupervised during the afterschool hours of 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The need for safe, high-quality afterschool opportunities affects millions of America's working families, many of whom are jcpenney customers and associates. As a leading corporate advocate for the afterschool issue, jcpenney works with national afterschool organizations to increase participation in afterschool programs across the country.

To help build community resources, jcpenney created jcpenney Afterschool, a charitable organization committed to providing children in need with access to life-enriching afterschool programs that inspire them to be smart, strong and socially responsible. For over a decade, more than $100 million has been distributed to youth charities such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, YMCA of the USA, National 4-H and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
