Associate Giving

Supporting Community Programs

An important part of JCPenney's heritage is caring about our communities and improving the quality of life in the places where we live and work. Giving back is an important way that JCPenney and its Associates can contribute to our community – whether through the gift of time, a financial contribution or both.

Associates also participate in community programs and local volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Company sponsored non-profit partnerships, as well as programs that enable Associates to give based on their own personal passion, make it possible for us to support the communities in which we live and work in a variety of ways.

GIVING TOGETHER Campaign

For over 80 years, JCPenney Associates have supported the United Way through the Company’s annual giving campaign. In fact, in the past 20 years, Associates and the Company have contributed more than $275 million to the United Way.

Now supporting both the JCPenney Afterschool Fund and the United Way, the GIVING TOGETHER Campaign offers Associates the chance to support specific causes that are critical to their community, such as providing children with access to life-enriching afterschool programs or making possible a broad spectrum of health and human services.

Associate Volunteerism

JCPenney believes volunteerism is vital to a healthy community. Our Associates participate in thousands of charitable activities each year – from group projects through the Company's "Just Caring People" Associate volunteer organization, to individual contributions of time and resources in their communities.
Throughout the year, JCPenney Associates and their families participate in community activities.

James Cash Penney Award for
Community Service

JCPenney annually honors active and retired JCPenney Associates who volunteer their time. For as little as 15 hours of volunteer service, Associates can earn cash contributions for the non-profit charity of their choice.

In the last ten years, more than 7,500 Associates have been recognized for donating more than 2.1 million volunteer hours, resulting in over $1.3 million donated to local charities.
