Water Footprint

While more focus has been placed on climate change and energy, the issue of water footprint is beginning to increase in importance. As with energy, JCPenney’s direct water footprint is small – related to activities at our stores, logistics centers and offices. Of much bigger impact is that related to the production of raw materials and their conversion into the products we sell, none of which is under our direct control. Nevertheless, as mentioned in the previous section, we are working with mills that manufacture products for our suppliers to test and improve water quality.

JCPenney has undertaken reduction efforts at its facilities. We have utilized and have been evaluating low-flow or no-flow urinals in some of our locations. At our Home Office, we have achieved water reductions with motion-controlled faucets and native landscaping.
