General Care Information
Temperature: Due to recent advances
in detergents, it is no longer necessary to wash
your whites in hot water; warm water wash cycle can
get them just as clean. If you have bright or dark
colors, washing in cold water will help preserve the
color.
Detergent: A good quality detergent can really help keep your textiles
looking good wash after wash, if you follow the
recommended quantity per wash load. If you have hard
water, use more detergent, if you have soft water,
use less detergent. If you have a new high capacity
washer, using too much detergent can make your
product look old before its time.
Bleach: Not all bleaches are designed for every product. Chlorine bleach
is great for whites, but is not for colored items.
Did you know that items made with spandex should not
be bleached? Bleach overtime will significantly
weaken the spandex fibers. If you use a detergent
with color safe bleach built in, it is recommended
that the detergent be thoroughly dissolved before
adding the wash load.
Drying: Follow the drying instructions recommended on the care label.
Drying at too high a temperature will dry items
quickly, but can cause excessive shrinkage. To dry
or fluff pillows, place them in pairs in the dryer
on low or no heat setting with 2 tennis balls. The
tennis balls help to restore fluff and loft to your
pillows. This also works well with comforters,
however, a large capacity dryer is recommended.
Softeners: Fabric softeners can help you keep your textiles soft and
smelling fresh. However, liquid softeners can reduce the
absorbency of towels and increase pilling of fleece
blankets and throws. Occasional use is fine, but
consistent and repeated use is not recommended.
