Embracing Cultures

Cultural celebrations help us understand the diversity of our customers and our Associates, increasing our ability to work more effectively together and to provide more targeted services and products for our customers.  This year, JCPenney has expanded its cultural heritage recognition programs, making it possible for all Associates across the Company to engage in celebrating national cultural heritage months.  Associate celebration programs are facilitated with the aid of a Meeting-in-a-Box online tool which provides them with cultural educational tools and guidelines enabling them to execute individual celebrations using a consistent format.

In recognition of Black History Month, our corporate celebration focused around the theme "Building Our Future Through Our Children." The celebration included an internal event for all Associates with a panel discussion on youth development and after school care featuring guests from local communities , as well as an external community component with a volunteer program for the month of February with local organizations such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club.
