Philanthropic InterestsThrough JCPenney’s charitable contributions, the Company is investing in the future of the communities where our customers and Associates live and work. In addition to supporting our signature charity, the JCPenney Afterschool Fund, JCPenney supports other key national non-profit partners.Giving to the USO, the American Red Cross, the National Organization on Disability, the National Minority Supplier Development Council and key colleges and universities continues to be an important component of our community relations initiatives. Additionally, JCPenney supports educational programs sponsored by national organizations that serve diverse populations, such as DECA, an organization focused on improving education and career opportunities for students interested in careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship; the United Negro College Fund; and the National Urban League. Associates have the opportunity to help their co-workers in need by making contributions to the Associate Disaster Relief Fund throughout the year, which are combined with Company contributions. Since 2005, the JCPenney Associate Disaster Relief Fund has benefited victims of Hurricane Katrina, the floods in the Midwest and, most recently, the California wildfires. |
